Next I whittle them down to a nice long point so that none of the outside of the twig comes in contact with the apple.

Next, keep in mind that there are poisonous twigs out there and, even among the non-toxic, there are some that won’t taste too pleasant. Once whittled down they may add a contact flavor to the apples. Oleander, Laurel, Rhododendron, Azalea, Cherry, Elderberry and Black Locust are just a few common yard plants with twigs that you definitely would not want to use.

I just can’t see putting a twig in a food product with out properly cleaning it, but I wasn’t sure if you have a way to do so.

You can leave it in the fridge all night and it will be fine! Just don’t leave the cake out at room temperature for too long. I would love to see a picture!!

Something to keep in mind is this cake is a dense cake and not fluffy or light. It doesn’t even rise much while baking. did you poke deep holes with a fork? U may even try wiggling the fork around while in the cake to make the holes wide, and make much more holes then u think u would need. Did u use all the milk mixture in the cake, how long did u let it soak?
